Komárom is located at the southeastern tip of Csallóköz, at the confluence of the Danube and the Vág-Danube, in the lowlands of the Kisalföld. In the administrative area of the city, at Lándorpuszta, the Nitra flows into the Váh-Danube, and a river island has also formed at its mouth (Apáli). This is a nature reserve with its rich wildlife and floodplain forests. It is located at an altitude of 110 m above sea level, to the east and north the Váh-Danube and its backwater, and to the south the Danube forms its natural boundary.
